Principal Analytical Engineer - Inhalation Devices
 
Main purpose of the job
To take a leading role in the analysis, design and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects in the field of drug delivery products and devices. The position will require you to apply your numerical and analytical skills to the development of world-leading medical products for our clients around the globe. .
 
Specific responsibilities
This position involves taking lead roles within development projects with exposure to all aspects of development from concept creation to final product delivery.
  • You will be involved in organising and progressing the analytical engineering effort to meet the requirements of the project as well as providing creative solutions to fluid and thermodynamic problems. Significant project management tasks may also be a key part of the role.
  • You will use your strong technical expertise to develop relationships with current and future clients by understanding their needs, writing proposals to define the work programmes, holding technical workshops and presenting data.
  • You will provide a technical point of contact within the company for clients.
  • You will manage tasks within projects requiring delivery within tight timescales and budgets, managing both internal and external resources.
  • You will also be required to oversee and advise on implementation by less experienced engineers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer with the ambition and ability to achieve excellent results in a highly demanding industry and to find novel and radical solutions to new and existing problems under tough commercial, regulatory and time constraints.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
  • Definition of technical solutions for product or system developments Leading design engineers to realise your technical solution Generation of concepts and layouts of systems in CAD
  • Detailed design of components and products in CAD
  • Tolerance analysis of system designs
  • Production of detailed drawings and manufacturing specifications
  • Transfer of designs to manufacture through liaison with external suppliers
  • Writing technical reports and producing high quality design documentation
Minimum requirements
To meet the requirements of this role: you will have an excellent first degree in a numerical or engineering related subject and should have a proven high level of practical experience and technical skills.
  • Exposure to the healthcare industry such as a Pharmaceutical or Medical Device company would be a strong advantage.
  • A PhD in a numerical subject would also be desirable.
  • An excellent knowledge of analytical techniques for solving fluid and thermodynamic problems is essential.
  • A good theoretical understanding and practical experience of CFD codes and techniques is desirable, preferably commercial codes such as Fluent, CFX or STAR.
  • Experience in 3D CAD, preferably Pro Engineer and Solid Works would be beneficial although not essential.
