Technology and Business Consultant
 
MUST HAVE
• Degree in Physics or engineering. PhD would be an asset
• Strong Engineering background essential
• Knowledge of CleanTech or Low Carbon sectors essential
 
The Science and Systems group at our client is a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers developing leading edge technologies and products for clients across a range of markets from healthcare to wireless communications and consumer products. We are seeking a highly skilled consultant with a strong engineering or physics background to join our team.
 
The primary role will involve leading a diverse range of projects supporting small UK companies seeking to commercialise technologies that can reduce global CO2 emissions. These projects will involve both technical and business consulting activities.
 
The successful applicant will also be expected to be able to contribute to the broader work of the group in technology and product development.
 
Qualifications
• Strong academic record in physics or engineering with a 1st or 2.1 from a leading institution. A PhD would be an asset.
• Track record of developing and commercialising advanced technology in an industrial setting and delivering technology based projects with challenging timelines and product requirements.
• First rate communication skills, strong analytical skills, coherent and persuasive presentation and writing skills. • Strong market awareness and capability to see opportunities for technologies. Knowledge of the “cleantech” or low carbon technology sectors.
• Project management experience, ideally in a business and/or consulting role.
• Marketing / selling experience would be an advantage, as would a foreign language
 
The Role
• Managing and implementing projects for the Carbon Trust – Incubator and carrying out associated business development activities
• Conducting focussed market research, technology review, and developing growth strategy advice for companies supported on the Carbon Trust program
• Make significant contributions to technically demanding technology and product development projects in both a technical, commercial and project management capacity
• Building relationships with our clients and developing new consulting business for our client The Rewards
