mpany Info: A vacancy has arisen for an experienced MRI Radiographer to justify and perform MRI examinations, providing direct care and a high quality diagnostic imaging service. The postholder will be required to supervise Junior Radiographers and communicate with Radiologists to optimise individual MRI investigations. Responsibilities:
- Perform MRI examinations.
- To be proficient in all aspects of MRI and image transfer for remote reporting where required.
- Based on experience, use skills to assess a referring clinician’s MRI request and decide on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic MRI image from a range of options.
· Manipulate and position all patients providing immobilisation when required.
· Handle and operate highly specialised and expensive equipment.
· Have the ability to optimise studies and sequences to ensure the efficient use of Vista MRI scanners.
· Should imaging equipment malfunction during an examination evaluate the situation and using experience and problem solving skills, in discussion with the Radiography Manager or Clinical Director, suggest solutions. Provide advice and supervision to junior Radiographers encountering such a situation.
- Ensure accurate patient electronic and paper records are maintained.
· Demands for diagnostic imaging are generated by the specific service needs of each clinical area and images must be suitable for diagnosis and archived on the data storage facility.
· Prioritise workload utilising diplomatic skills when in discussion with referrers.
- Be able to exercise personal responsibility and make decisions in complex and unpredictable circumstances.
- Be accountable for own professional actions, working independently.
- Ensure that the patient experience is optimal and as enjoyable as possible.
- Direct and supervise Junior Radiographers
- Provide supervision to staff when performing and assessing one’s own examinations requiring frequent concentration in unpredictable situations throughout the majority of the shift period
- Train new radiographers in the utilisation of the MRI.
- Ensure that junior staff receive all modules of training to ensure optimal usage of the MRI scanner.
· Delegate appropriate tasks and supervise Junior Radiographers to achieve the desired quality of patient care.
- Provide leadership and supervision to Radiographers and more junior grades in difficult situations such as very busy periods and with patients requiring multiple examinations.
- Using knowledge and skills attained through experience, training and CPD and be actively involved in the training and development of more junior members of staff.
- Maintain a high level of expertise in the safe operation of MRI equipment and manage faults effectively.
- Ensure faults in the operation of the MRI machines and suboptimal image quality are reported to Toshiba and senior management.
· Comply, contribute and be involved in the revision, training and implementation of departmental and professional polices and procedures.
- Be actively involved and ensure Radiographers are committed to departmental Audit and Quality Assurance, maintaining effective Clinical Governance.
· Participate in mandatory training and actively pursue and provide Continuous Professional Development keeping an up to date personal record.
· Maintain knowledge of technological and technical advances in methods of diagnostic Imaging in order to promote a culture of continuous improvement within the department.
· Develop knowledge and understanding within an evidence-based framework and transfer to situations encountered in practice.
· MRI Radiographers will have a role in ensuring implementation and review of either: an element of QA, Health and Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessment, Infection Control, Learning/CPD, Departmental Protocols and Radiation Protection. Any such work will be assigned by the Board.
Requirements:
- Must hold a degree or diploma in diagnostic radiography
- HPC registration
- Experience working within MRI
