Our client is seeking an experienced and talented Radio Planning Engineer to join their expanding network.

Job Title: Radio Planning Engineer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage planning and engineering of various radio access networks.
Plan upgrades and new radio sectors to meet ongoing network expansion requirements.
Manage radio planners from vendors to monitor quality of work and handover and integration of planning data into radio planning tools.
Manage and perform drive testing activities for network validation and acceptance testing.
Work closely with site acquisition, transmission planning and construction teams on site selection activities. Ensure radio requirements are included in all site contracts.
Participate in site surveys and specify locations of radio equipment on site for optimal coverage and performance.
Provide engineering work packs to installation and commissioning teams for all new or upgraded radio sectors. Ensure radios are installed according to plan.
Co-ordinate with operations teams on network optimisation projects and assist with resolving performance issues on the radio network.
Co-ordinate with field teams to provide second level support for technical troubleshooting and fault resolution.
Support Sales department with scoping new customer solutions and provide provisional high level designs and costs to support bids.
Provide radio coverage maps on an ongoing basis for Sales and Marketing activities.
Maintain and operate computer systems that perform necessary radio and networking design, and diagrams and databases.
Maintain accurate records and provide regular reports for all radios with respect to performance, capacity, frequencies, regulatory status etc.
Work with Procurement to organise purchase orders for new equipment and spares on an ongoing basis.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Relevant technical degree/diploma or equivalent hands-on experience (min. 5 years) and technical certification required.
Five years engineering experience in the telecommunications industry in a radio planning role in GSM, UMTS, FWA or WiMAX.
Solid technical knowledge of RF characteristics, antenna theory, signal propagation and digital mapping.· Experienced with operating handheld RF signal test and analysis equipment.
Ability and physical capacity to climb telecommunications masts or similar structures. Requires working at heights on rooftop structures.
Full clean driving licence. Own car preferable.
FAS Safe Pass accreditation.
Knowledge and experience of microwave transmission theory and IP systems an advantage.
Process oriented with a focus on detail with excellent documentation and communication skills
Good team-working ability. Self motivated and capable of working independently and under pressure.
Excellent computer, software and database skills. Experience with Atoll and MapInfo Professional.
